The Good Deeds Initiative (GDI) was founded in 1992 and works with disadvantaged children in the Chetanovo District of Moscow. GDI's focus is to help children from low income families whose parents are unemployed, disabled or suffering from alcohol problems. The centre has around 200 members and organises a range of clubs and activities for the children. They also distribute humanitarian aid to needy families and the centre provides an invaluable social and psychological support network for parents and children alike. Every year GDI runs a summer camp for their families.
ARC has awarded grants to fund a life-skills training project and within this, children receive socio-psychological help as well as more general support to enable them to interact appropriately in society and assist them in choosing future professions. We have also funded the purchase of innovative psychological software, this is used in conjunction with a qualified psychologist to provide counselling support for the children.
