Projects > Taganka Children's Fund

Taganka Children's Fund [TCF] supports single-parent families and disadvantaged children in Moscow. Taganka aims to keep families together and prevent children from entering institutionalised care or ending up on the streets. It is a little known fact that 95% of all children in State institutions have at least one living parent who for some reason or another, is unable or unwilling to care for their child. TCF ensures that families are strengthened and the needs of children in crisis are met by providing:

  • humanitarian aid
  • psychological and legal consultations
  • community support programs
  • educational and extra-curricula classes for children
  • vocational training and employment support for parents.
Supporting single-parent families in crisis is one fundamental way to avoid the creation of more social orphans in Russia

ARC has recently provided sponsorship and a 'matching grant' so that Taganka could qualify for a European Union TACIS grant. This money will provide the support of a social worker for the most 'at risk' families. ARC has also provided donations of furniture and equipment and placed many volunteers with TCF.
