Changes in Russia have left many children in an extremely vulnerable situation and State benefit is very low. Many children and families live in poverty and the numbers of street children are growing. Those with mental or physical disadvantages suffer a lack of State support. Parents are encouraged to send children born with physical or mental disabilities to institutions and there is little or no support for families.
ARC supports projects that support families. These provide lifelines to families and help keep children with special needs out of state institutions. Projects such as Downside Up and The Centre for Curative Pedagogics offer therapy and independent living skills at their day centres. Projects such as The Centre for Deaf Studies and Preodoleniye run schools. At risk and socially disadvantaged children and families are helped by the work of projects such as Good Deed Initiatives and Taganka Children's Fund.
By supporting ARC you support these projects and Russian children in desperate need.
